Albums that remind me of my freshman year of college, mainly because I played them over and over when I locked myself up in my dorm room all hermit-style, surfing the web and honing my blossoming HTML skillz:

Red House Painters, Bridge album
Knapsack, Day Three of My New Life
The Spinanes, Strand
Son Volt, Straightaways
Jimmy Eat World, Static Prevails
That Dog, Retreat From the Sun

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Police said Monday they had recovered three paintings by Van Gogh, Picasso and Gauguin -- valued at £1 million ($1.6 million) -- that were stolen from an art gallery in Manchester.

Acting on an anonymous tip, police said they found the watercolors behind a public toilet near Whitworth Art Gallery, where they were stolen during the weekend.

Saw you there across the room
You were staring straight back at me
Give you anything you want
All that you want is me

With this weekend's purchase of a condenser mic, two microphone cables, a phantom power supply, a mic stand, headphones, and a mic-input adapter, my girlfriend and I completed our in-home recording studio-ish setup. Today we hooked up the Fostex 4-track and recorded our first song, a Gold Rush-era song called, "South Australia."

I've been such a damned slacker in the digital photography department this month. I've taken like one picture in the past 17 days. I'm going to the Bay Area for a wedding tomorrow night. Hopefully some things will catch my eye.

I think it's amusing how the press is on such a first-name basis with Saddam Hussein. Were his name a little less foreign and a little more Anglo, do you think they'd still call him by his first name all the time?

Just imagine: this week's Time magazine cover would read TED'S LAST STAND.

I know there’s a big world out there
Like the one that I saw on the screen
In my living room late last night
It was almost too bright to see

Can't sleep. Must blame time change.
